Springtime Wings of Wonder Storytime - Cancelled

Monarch Butterfly

**Due to the increase of COVID cases in the area we've decided to close the library to in person programming for the time being. As a result, we cannot hold the spring sessions of the Wings of Wonder Storytime in the butterfly garden. We will, however, broadcast the storytimes via Facebook live on a week by week basis at the scheduled time. We will see you online beginning April 15, 10:00AM!** (edited 4/14)

Families with young children ages 0-5 looking for a fun way to experience stories and songs can join us for outdoor Wings of Wonder Storytime. Together with a Youth Librarian, build early literacy skills in a welcoming environment through meaningful stories and connection. Encourage a love of language and reading while practicing listening and cooperative tasks.

All storytimes take place near our Wings of Wonder butterfly garden in the back of the library so bring a blanket for the dewy morning grass and bring some bug spray if you desire to keep the mosquitos at bay. In case of inclement weather, storytime will be cancelled. Please note that the storytime will be between 20-30 minutes and WILL NOT be followed by an open play time.

Due to an abundance of caution and continued physical distancing, this program REQUIRES REGISTRATION and space is limited. Registering one person from your family secures a "family circle" for up to 4 people - please register using the card of your child aged 0-5. Due to MDHHS guidelines updated since our last storytime session, masks WILL be required for all attendees over 5 years of age in the family circles. Registration for all sessions begins two weeks in advance. Registration dates for all sessions are listed below. If you are unable to attend or secure a spot, we will be live streaming this event on our Facebook page.

In addition to physical distancing measures during the program, we are asking that families remain at least 6 feet apart when walking to the programming space.

Together we can follow these guidelines and have a wonderful storytime experience.

The Montessori method and philosophy is well proven and scientific. It is process oriented and helps the child normalize in a prepared environment and utilize his/her fullest potential. This method has worked for 100 plus years and if used will lay a solid foundation for your childrens' lives.

The aim of this on-going program is to provide parents the necessary tools to prepare their environment to suit the needs of their child, to set simple and workable ground rules and to help their child build his/her concentration, confidence, coordination, independence and order. Parents may receive lesson plans from actual school environments to use or make at home. This program is presented by the staff from  Banyan Montessori Academy.
