Michigan now has 1.2 million drivers 65 years old or older, and that number is growing. By 2025, one in five drivers is expected to be 65 or older. By using smart self-management techniques to review their driving skills, older drivers can keep driving longer while limiting risks to themselves and others. Copies of Michigan's Guide for Aging Drivers and Their Families are available at the Canton Public Library and the Michigan Secretary of State office.

October 8 is World Sight Day, an annual day of awareness held to generate global attention on blindness and vision impairment.For those unfamiliar with the free service, the Braille and Talking Book Library offers audio books, magazines and braille titles to Michigan residents with visual or physical disabilities that are unable to utilize standard print materials. Canton Public Library is a demo site; interested individuals can try a digital talking book
machine before enrolling in the program.
