Starting on October 1, HealthCare.gov will be the home of the Health Insurance Marketplace, which will allow residents to find, compare, and purchase health coverage. Open enrollment will end on March 1, 2014. The following resources can help you find out more about the Affordable Care Act and how to obtain affordable health coverage for you and your family.

Affordable Care Act Marketplaces

The Affordable Care Act Marketplaces (Exchanges) are scheduled to open on October 1st. This is where we will go to find the best solution to our individual and family health care insurance needs. Since this is a new experience for all of us, we need a little guidance and information to be successful, thrifty and healthy. David Huntzicker of Kapnick Insurance Group will be our guide as we begin our search. David will explain the categories and the time lines we will all need to be aware of, as well as all the options available to us.

Health Insurance Savings

As part of the Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Marketplace is scheduled to open October 1, 2013. You can use the Kaiser Family Foundation’s online Subsidy Calculator to get an estimate of what your premiums and savings might be on a Marketplace plan. Keep in mind that this is just an estimate, and your actual costs may be higher or lower. When open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace starts October 1, you’ll be able to see exactly what you’ll pay for specific plans, including any savings you qualify for based on your income.
