Visit a Michigan Sand Dune

Some of the most spectacular sand dunes in the nation are right here in Michigan. In fact, the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was recently voted as the most beautiful place in America by viewers of Good Morning America. Take in some awe-inspiring scenery and earn you My Mitten badge at the same time by visiting some of these natural wonders.

Visit an Historic Bridge

Michigan is home to many historic bridges which are located throughout the state. To get you started on your search, check out the Michigan Historic Bridges list from the MDOT page, or the Historic Bridges of Michigan section of HistoricBridges.org. Either site will give you numerous suggestions to plan your excursion. A great way to earn your My Mitten badge and learn a little history at the same time!

Pewabic Pottery

Pewabic Pottery in Detroit was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1991. Founded in 1903 at the height of the Arts and Crafts Movement in America, the pottery is known nationally for its unique iridescent glazes. Take a trip downtown and earn your My Mitten badge at the same time!

International Bridge Walk

Take part in a truly unique experience by joining the International Bridge Walk in Sault Ste. Marie on June 29. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge, walkers from both the Michigan and Ontario side will get a fantastic view of the Soo Locks along the way.
