The Henry Ford Museum is sponsoring the exhibit Designing Tomorrow: America's World's Fairs of the 1930s until September 2. Nearly 150 artifacts are on display from the six fairs held in the United States during the 1930s - from Chicago in 1933 to New York City in 1939. Besides offering a fascinating look back at our country's history, it's also a great way for history buffs to earn their My Mitten badge!

If your summer travels take you in the direction of Saginaw Valley State University, don't forget to visit the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum where you can find more than 2,000 works of the famous sculptor. Fredericks was on the staff of the Cranbook Academy of Art in the 1930s and lived in Birmingham until his death in 1998. His many creations include the Spirit of Detroit sculpture in downtown Detroit, the Barbour Memorial Fountain on Belle Isle, and the Christ on the Cross at the Indian River Catholic Shrine in Indian River, Michigan. The museum is also part of this year's Michigan Activity Pass program. A great way to earn your My Mitten badge!

A great way to earn your My Mitten badge is to visit the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing. Current exhibits include The First People to 1900, Michigan in the Twentieth Century, and Put it on Paper. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
