National Cherry Festival

This year's National Cherry Festival takes place June 29 to July 6 in Traverse City. Along with the numerous cherry delights, the festival includes cruises, parades, live music, arts & crafts, and family events. Learn about the pioneers of the auto industry through visual and interactive exhibits at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn. Located next door to the Henry Ford Museum, it opened in 1997. A fun and informative way to earn your My Mitten badge.

Michigan Modern

Visit the new exhibit at the Cranbook Art Museum and earn your My Mitten badge! Opening June 14, Michigan Modern: design that shaped America celebrates our state's contributions to modern design, including the architects Albert Kahn, Eero Saarinen, and Minoru Yamasaki. The exhibit will be available until October 13. The Cranbrook Art Museum is also part of this year's Michigan Activity Pass program.

Celebrate Go Outdoors Month All Summer Long

You can celebrate Get Outdoors Month all summer long. The official celebration takes place in June, but you can find activities to celebrate going outdoors throughout our Connect Your Summer experience. Use library materials to learn a new outdoor sport, plan an outdoor adventure, or just to find a great book to take outside. Share your experience to earn a badge.

If you're into browsing, try using the Dewey Decimal System to find a book for your Game On badge. For nonfiction sporting selections, in both the Adult and Children's Departments, check the 796s for sport books. Use our endcaps to find the right number. Discover a good-looking read, and then share your thoughts after you've read it to earn your Game On badge.
