Where's Waldo Scavenger Hunt

The perennially popular children's book Where's Waldo celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Kids have spent hours looking for the bespeckled explorer in his candy cane striped sweater and his friends. Now they can hunt for Waldo here at the Children's Library on Thursday, October 11th starting at 7:00 PM. This program is recommended for ages 7 to 10. No registration required.

The Hobbit Celebrates 75 years

The hobbit, or, There and back again by J.R.R. Tolkien — J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit turns 75 years old on September 21.  September 22 is also Hobbit Day, honoring the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo (whose long awaited birthday celebration initiatied events in the Fellowship of the Ring).  With the first film  in a trilogy  based on The Hobbit releasing this December, it's a great time to check it out for a reread!

Family LEGO day

Join us Saturday, September 29th at 2:00 PM in the Community Room to build the CPL Story Land. To coincide with the Your Dream Library Contest, we will be building vehicles, settings, and other items from your favorite stories. Build the Shrieking Shack, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, or James' Giant Peach. Later, we'll catalogue your entries for future inspiration.

Don't forget to nominate Canton Public Library for the LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! Project.

While this program does not require registration, it does involve complex assembly and small pieces, and as such is intended for kids in third grade and up only.

Your Dream Library LEGO contest

Kids in 1st through 6th grade are invited to take part in CPL's very first LEGO contest. Participants will build their dream library out of LEGO and have it displayed in the Children's Library during the month of September. Please read all contest rules and register beforehand. There will be one winner for each age division, 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, as well as one popular-vote winner decided by library patrons. Winners will be announced at the Family LEGO day on Saturday, September 29th.

Make Your Own Ice Cream

Did you know that July is National Ice Cream month? Celebrate here at the library on Monday July 23 by making your own ice cream. Kids going into grades 1st through 4th and their caregivers are welcome join us. Please register for one time slot, beginning Tuesday, June 26th. Rain location will be in the Community Room. Program times are as follows:
