Naturalization Workshop

Attorney Ruby Robinson of the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center will provide a workshop on becoming a naturalized citizen. Get help with paperwork via workstations manned by law students, have your paperwork reviewed by an attorney and get advice on the final steps in the process. Join us on July 7 at 1:00 PM to start on the path to citizenship. Registration is required for this workshop and you will need to bring immigration documents with you.

A 1000 Mile Walk on the Beach with Loreen Niewenhuis

Michigan native Loreen Niewenhuis has always had a connection to and deep love of Lake Michigan. She decided to make the 1000 mile trek around the lake and then wrote A 1000 Mile Walk on the Beach: One Woman's Trek of the Perimeter of Lake Michigan. Next, she decided to touch every Great Lake and her second big trek resulted in A 1000 Mile Great Lakes Walk. Loreen will share her fascinating story with us on August 15 at 7:00 PM. She will also sell and sign her books for our enjoyment. Don't miss this one.

Preserving and Canning with Chef Mary Spencer

RaspberryCulinary instructor Mary Spencer will answer all of your canning and preserving questions. She will demonstrate how to preserve Sugared Raspberries and how to can homemade fresh vegetable salsa. Mary has studied under the best, including Jacques Pepin, Milos Cihelka and many more. She has taught classes at Kitchen Glamour, Kitchen Witch, ABC Warehouse and now runs her own cooking school in Northville called Taste: A Cook's Place, LLC. Come learn Mary's lessons on saving our summer bounty and share in a small tasting on July 31 at 7:00 PM.

Vaulting on Horseback - POSTPONED due to extreme heat.

VaultingThe riders and horses from Miracle Ranch in Milford will visit and bring Leon, a beautiful white horse, and the riding team of girls from 5 to 20. Equestrian Vaulting is the art of combining gymnastics and dance while standing on the back of a moving horse. It is quite an amazing sight to see. Join us on Wednesday, July 17 at 12 noon behind the library for this unique demonstration. Be prepared to be dazzled.

They will guide us through cleaning out that garage - what to keep, what to get rid of and how to get rid of it safely. Many activities will take place in our Community Room on June 17 to celebrate the beginning of summer. This one might actually save your life.
