Participating libraries will host events relating to The Inner Circle this May and June, including a special book discussion June 14th at 1pm, and author Brad Meltzer will appear in person at two events on June 22nd.

Due to popular demand, a ticket will be required for both author appearances. Tickets are free but limited and will be given away at the Information Desk on a first come, first serve basis to Canton Public Library cardholders in good standing.

Everyone's Reading promotes community dialogue through the shared experience of reading the same great book. This year's selection is Before You Know Kindness by Chris Bohjalian. He is making two personal appearances in the Metro Detroit area: Wednesday, April 30 at 2:00 PM at The Community House in Birmingham and at 7:00 PM that same evening at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield. We have free tickets to both events available at the information desk beginning March 17 to Canton cardholders in good standing. Two tickets are available per cardholder.

Before you know kindness: a novel by Chris Bohjalian — On a balmy July night in New Hampshire a shot rings out, and a man falls to the ground, terribly wounded. The hurt man is Spencer McCullough an animal rights  advocate. The shot that hit him was fired–accidentally?–by his adolescent daughter Charlotte at what she thought was a deer in the distance. Bohjalian uses his trademark emotional heft to create a literate page-turner is suspenseful, wryly funny, and humane.

It's coming... flu season. Be prepared by getting your flu shot on October 1 between noon and 4:00 PM. The professional staff from Canton's Walgreen's at Ford Road and Sheldon will provide flu shots for you and your family at the library. Most shots will be free and covered by your insurance. Remember to bring your insurance cards and let's see if we can make this winter a flu-free one for you.

Help us decide on the Grand Winner of our contest by voting for your favorite. Winners will be announced on Sunday, September 29 at 4:00 PM in the Community Room.

Learn the principles of managing your priorities and your time as an entrepreneur and avoid the pitfalls and time sucks that rob you of getting things accomplished. These techniques are helpful to anyone wanting learn time management skills. Join us Wednesday, October 23, 1:30-2:30 PM.

Drs. Lauren Katz and Joanne Pierson from the Literacy, Language, and Learning Institute (3LI), will hold a Q & A with parents about the language and literacy difficulties experienced by children, teens, and college students. Both Katz and Pierson are speech-language pathologists with doctorates in Education with a focus in literacy and learning disabilities. They have years of experience in conducting diagnostic assessments and providing intervention for students of all ages whose language and/or literacy problems, including dyslexia, are affecting academic performance. On October 21 from 7:00-8:00 PM they will help patrons recognize literacy struggles and offer strategies and solutions to turn those struggles into success. Bring your questions!

What does your family look like? Craft a portrait of your family for display on our Family Wall of Fame as we celebrate all of Canton's families. Join us on October 24 from 7:00-8:00 PM. All ages encouraged to attend.
