On September 30, 2021, the Canton Public Library will no longer offer cloudLibrary. After the 30th, we will begin moving our e-audiobook collection from cloudLibrary to OverDrive (Libby app). Current cloudLibrary titles will be briefly unavailable while they are transferred and configured in OverDrive.

Holds will not transfer to OverDrive. If you have titles on hold in cloudLibrary, you will need to place a new holds on the titles in OverDrive when those titles are made available.

Saved lists also cannot be exported from cloudLibrary and will be unavailable after September 29th.

We apologize for any inconvenience this move causes.

We are once again receiving copies of BookPage. Issues are available at the Main Desk, so please stop by and ask for a paper copy. If you prefer to not come into the library, visit the BookPage website to access all the great reviews.

In 2017 the Canton Public Library Book Purchase Enrichment Fund was created through a generous anonymous donation from appreciative readers. This donation enhances our print collection through the purchase of literary fiction and literary genre fiction; or quality narrative nonfiction primarily in the areas of science, social science, the humanities, literary biographies, and history. If you're interested in contributing to the Canton Public Library Book Purchase Enrichment Fund, contact the fund's administrator, the Canton Community Foundation. Following are just a few of the books this thoughtful donation has allowed us to purchase in 2020. To find a complete list of books librarians have purchased with this money, keyword search the terms Book Purchase Enrichment Fund in our catalog.

If your book club can't meet in person, they can still meet online or by phone--and the hoopla Book Club Hub has online books ready and waiting. All of your book club members can check the same book out at the same time, and chose between e-book and e-audiobook. Each title in the Book Club Hub also has online resources, like discussion questions and author interviews.

The Spring 2020 selection is The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai, or you can browse the previously selected titles.

We also have some tips on hosting your book group online.

An amateur sleuth, an unsuspecting victim, a quirky supporting cast, and a trail of clues and red herrings are the main ingredients of a cozy mystery. If you like your murder and mayhem served up with a dash of humor and a minimum of gore, these e-books, e-audiobooks and TV shows are for you.

We have moved our popular Book Club-in-a-Bag kits to an area near the Adult Fiction. This will allow you to browse the collection on the shelves as well as in our catalog. The kits are locked with a tie, so please bring them to the Circulation Desk for check-out. All titles have a book summary on the tag for your convenience. We have a wonderful selection of Book Club-in-a-Bag kits. Come in and discover the next great title for your book group.

There are changes to the Libby app for holds. Instead of a hold title being automatically checked out, you now have choices. You can:

  •      Borrow it and start reading! You’ll have a 3-day pickup period to open the Libby app and check out your title.
  •       If you’re not ready to start reading, suspend the hold for a set time period. Once that time period is over, you’ll be next on the list.

If you forget to borrow your available title during the pickup window, your hold will be automatically suspended for 7 days as a one-time courtesy on that hold. Once the book is available again, you’ll get another notification that you can borrow it, or choose to suspend it again.

Take a look at OverDrive's help page for more information on this change.
