30 years

The classic arcade game Street Fighter II was released 30 years ago in February 1991. Street Fighter II kicked off the popularity of fighting games in the 1990s and allowed players to select from multiple playable characters. Each character had a distinct fighting style and special moves. Street Fighter II had the first combo system that allowed players to link attacks the opponent couldn't block. This type of combo system, which started as a bug, is now a standard feature in fighting games.
