A walk across the sun: a novel by Corban Addison — Teen-age sisters Ahalya and Sita are left orphaned after a tsunami destroys their coastal town. Destitute and alone, they plan to seek refuge in a convent miles away. A driver agrees to take them, but instead he sells the girls to human traffickers. On the other side of the world, Washington lawyer Thomas Clarke takes a sabbatical to escape his own heartache. He volunteers at an international anti-trafficking group in India where he meets Ahalya and Sita and makes it his personal mission to save them.

                           From 7:00-7:45 PM Annie's ghosts: a journey into a family secret by Steve Luxenberg is the 2013-14 Great Michigan Read. It's part memoir, part detective story, and part history. As the author tries to understand his mom's reasons for hiding her sister's existence, he takes readers on a journey into his mother's world of the 1930s and '40s, where he explores how a poor, immigrant family manages life with a child who has special needs.

                           From 8:00-8:45 PM Her fearful symmetry: a novel by Audrey Niffenegger. Twin sisters learn their English aunt has left them her flat in London. The cemetery which borders the flat serves as an inspiring setting as the twins become entwined in the lives of their neighbors, both living and deceased.

World Alzheimer's Awareness Month

September is Alzheimer's World Month and PBS is raising awareness of this disease by providing audiences the opportunity to watch an interesting documentary in its entirety called, You're Looking at Me Like I Live Here and I Don't. This documentary focuses on the day-to-day struggles of living with Alzheimer's from the patient's point-of-view.

Joey, the Yorkshire Terrier won CPL's Best in Show Dog Show! Adopted from a rescue organization as a puppy, Joey now 5, demonstrated he had it all to take the Best in Show prize. Joey won Best Trick to qualify for Best in Show. Congratulations, Joey! You are Canton's Top Dog for 2013!
