Phase III of Improvement Project-- Completed

As of March 31, 2016, the Children's Library is open.

Beginning in December 2015, the library will embark on phase three of renovations to update the building, make the library accessible to all users and to fulfill our core values of Relevance, Access, Integrity and Leadership.

This renovation focuses on the Children's Library, the Purple Room and the two family restrooms. It carries on the improvements of the 2014 and 2015 Patron Service Improvement Projects, which renovated service points in the central area of the library, the main restrooms, and the lobby. Phase III includes a new layout of the Children's Library, relocation of computer stations, new furnishings and flooring, additional shelving, improved early literacy and play areas, and a self-service area with a printer/copier/scanner and self-checkout machines. The family restrooms will be renovated and a drinking fountain will be added.

Canton Public Library’s mission is Connecting Your Community. Connect Your Summer aims to be an exciting way to bring the community together to share their summer experiences and their summer reading, and to emphasize the library as an important resource for all.

Because Connect Your Summer is the mainstay of our summer library programming, we are asking you to help us learn and improve by sharing feedback about your Connect Your Summer experience. The survey will take about five minutes to complete:

Phase II of Improvement Project to Begin

Beginning in January 2015, the library will embark on phase two of a renovation project to update the building, make the library accessible to all users and to fulfill our core values of Relevance, Access, Integrity and Leadership.

The 2015 project carries on the improvements of the 2014 Patron Service Improvement Project that renovated service points in the central area of the library. Phase II will include a complete renovation of the public restrooms located in the lobby with new tile and fixtures, making them ADA compliant. During this phase of the construction, patrons will be asked to use the restrooms located in the Children's Library. The Cafe will be inaccessible, as well as the main doors of the Community Room.

Other improvements planned include replacing worn carpeting in the Community Room and main library to match the carpeting from the 2014 renovation. New study carrels, as well as new chairs, will be added to the southeast corner of the library and new CD shelving will replace bins in the multimedia area.
