Adventures in Masks

Kids, have you ever seen a mask that made you laugh, or scared you, or made you think, "What is that?" Masks are a tradition in many cultures. They are used in ceremonies, for celebrations, or for decoration. Here's your chance to make your very own scary, funny or adventurous mask.

Who: Children, ages 5-9, with a caregiver
When: Monday, August 8, 1:00-1:45PM

Registration begins Monday, July 25.

Jazz for Kids

Looking for some music to help the kids chill out on these very hot days? Try some Jazz. Cool Jazz for Kids and Disney Songs the Satchmo Way are just two of the great selections of Jazz for kids. Classic crooners like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong are some of the artists that will help your family beat the heat. More selections are available in the Children's Department. Stay cool!

Third and Fourth Grade Book Group

Guess what! Do you love book groups? Come to the 3rd/4th Grade Book Group on July 13, 2011 from 2:00-2:45PM. July's book is Alvin Ho: Allergic to Camping, Hiking and Other Natural Disasters by Lenore Look. Registration starts June 29. Be sure to pick your book up at the Children's Reference Desk after you register. See you there!

Folktales from Around the World

Kids, come and listen to some great tales from around the world. Folktales are a great way to pass down stories and experiences from one generation to another. We will share stories and make a craft too.

That's How

Parents, how many times a day do you hear "Why?" or "How?" How many different ways can you answer that? Puppet Kits

Did you know we have puppets at the library? Did you know that we have created Puppet Kits for you to enjoy? The puppet kits contain a picture book and puppet to help bring the story to life. You can have an adventure with Curious George, get lost with Max and the Wild Things, or fight off the Big Bad Wolf with the 3 Little Pigs. Your adventures begin along the purple wall near the DVD's in the Children's Department.
