Art + Authors Book Discussion at the Detroit Institute of Arts

The Detroit Institute of Arts hosts a quarterly book discussion, Art + Authors to discuss great books and great art together.   To complement the upcoming 30 Americans exhibit,  a Canton Public Library librarian will co-lead a discussion of two books, Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coats and The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin both November 6th  and November 7th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the DIA.  The discussion will be followed by a tour of a permanent exhibition led by an Interpreter Program volunteer.   The program is free but registration is required. Call  313-833-4005  for more information

Chalk CPL

Great art can happen in any medium and to prove that, artists from D&M Art Studio will be here on July 9 at 6:00 PM to create chalk art versions of our Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out masterpieces. See what they create, and then cover the CPL sidewalks with your own chalk work of art in this all-ages activity. Artists will also be at Cherry Hill Village so be sure to stop out there and see the Inside|Out art and chalk recreations.
