The only survivor was the crew's bombardier, Lt. Louis Zamperini. His true story of endurance will take your breath away.

In honor of Earth Week, which includes Earth Day and Arbor Day, we will have representatives from The Greening of Detroit on hand to discuss what they are doing to transform the physical, and metaphorical, landscape of Detroit. For over two decades, this non-profit organization has been instrumental in spear-heading green initiatives, most notably the repatriation of trees, in conjunction with the City of Detroit and Detroit Public Schools. If you are interested in learning about an innovative and fun project focused on the revitalization of the city, and how you can get involved, please join us on April 24 from 7:00-8:00 PM for this event. There will be the opportunity to sign up for tree-planting and park clean-up volunteer activities as well as enroll in the Citizen Forester program. A Hospital Called Eloise.  As the Great Michigan Read 2013-2014 draws to a close Jo Johnson, an expert in the history of Eloise Hospital and the stories behind the walls will speak on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Straight Farm House in Garden City from 6:00-8:00 PM.  A portion of the $25 fee will be donated to the Eloise Museum.  Reservations can be made by calling Party Animals at 734-525-9777. 

Steve Luxenberg, author of Annie's Ghosts the highly popular 2013-2014 Great Michigan Read, will be speaking at various sites throughout metro Detroit in May.

Unicorns are so awesome! Come and celebrate their coolness at our Superfun Unicorn Party on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. We will read a magical Unicorn story, make some fun crafts, and have an awesome snack. This program is open to kids ages 4 years to 8 years old and their caregiver.
