Late last month, both the Malice Domestic, Ltd. convention and the Edgars Symposium were held, the events where the Agatha Awards and the Edgars Awards are announced. The Edgars Awards are a general mystery fiction award nominated by THE MYSTERY WRITERS OF AMERICA while the Malice Dometic's Agatha Awards are given to “traditional mystery” works in the vein of Agatha Christie.

The winners of the 2016 Agatha and Edgar awards have been announced.  The awards are to materials published during the calendar year 2015 (January 1 - December 31).  A complete list of the winners and nominees are available on Malice Domestic's (Agatha Christie Award) and the Mystery Writers of America's (Edgar Allan Poe Award) websites.

Murder Will Out: Ruth Rendell Dies at 85

From Doon with death by Ruth Rendell — British author, Ruth Rendell passed away at the age of 85 on May 2.  Ms. Rendell may be best known for her Inspector Wexford series, but she also wrote several suspenseful stand-alone novels as Barbara Vine. She was named Grand Master of Mystery by the Mystery Writers of America in 1997 and the Crime Writers Association Diamond Dagger for Lifetime Achievement.

Mystery Writers of America recently announced the winners of the 2015 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, honoring the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction and television published or produced in 2014.

The Mystery Writers of America recently announced the 2014 Edgar Allan Poe Awards honoring the best mystery fiction and non-fiction published in 2013. Ann Arbor's Aunt Agatha's Bookstore won The Raven Mystery Award for outstanding achievement in the mystery field outside of creative writing.

Murder Will Out: 2011 Edgar Award Nominees

The Mystery Writers of America have announced the 2011 nominations for the Edgar Awards. A complete list of the nominees is available on the MWA website. The awards will be made on April 28, 2011 at the 65th Annual Mystery Writers of America Edgar syposium held in New York City at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
