Recently the Michigan Secretary of State announced expanded online services. ExpressSos.com allows residents to renew or replace standard state driver's licenses and ID cards, change their address when they move order multiple copies of vehicle registrations and titles.

As the Canton Public Library continues to deal with a declining budget, patrons are reminded the "magazine express" program has been discontinued. The following titles remain as single shelf copies with back issues available for checkout — these titles include:

Ford Motor Company TechShop, a membership based workshop that provides members affordable access to industrial tools & equipment, have announced a collaborative effort in the city of Detroit called TechShop Detroit. The Detroit studio will feature over $1 million in high-tech equipment and include everything from top-quality prototyping tools and industrial-grade sewing and textile equipment to laser cutting, welding and machine shop-type gear. As part of the arrangment Ford will incorporate a first-of-its-kind "Innovation Exchange" with the nonprofit organization AutoHarvest. Ford and TechShop will preview the facility this week during Maker Faire Detroit, held July 30-31, 2011 at The Henry Ford in Dearborn.

Each year, the Library of Michigan, compiles a list of "exceptional" books that showcase Michigan topics and authors. This year, two titles highlighting the triumphs and tragedies of Detroit's automobile industry have made the list.

Chrysler's turbine car: the rise and fall of Detroit's coolest creation by Steve Lehto — gives a detailed account of Chrysler's foray into the world of cars powered by jet engines.

Sixty to zero: an inside look at the collapse of General Motors — and the Detroit auto industry by Alex Taylor III — provides an inside look at the mistakes that led General Motors to file for bankruptcy in 2009.

Did you know that March is National Collison Awareness Month? Driving safely is living safely. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration promotes the use of seatbelts, child safety seats, and safe driving. It also reminds drivers to obey speed limits and heed safety tips to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes.
