Michigan native Loreen Niewenhuis has always had a connection to and deep love of Lake Michigan. She decided to make the 1000 mile trek around the lake and then wrote A 1000 Mile Walk on the Beach: One Woman's Trek of the Perimeter of Lake Michigan.
