National Dance Day

There are many days to celebrate dance throughout the year. Take this moment to pause and get your dance on, in honor of the original July National Dance Day. Try one of these suggestions to get you up and moving.

Sweet & Savory Test Kitchen Grab & Go Kit

Whip up some sweet and savory treats using a microwave, a mug, and a little ingenuity. This will be a self directed, Grab & Go Activity. 

Registration is required for Grab & Go Kit. Kits will be available for pick up begining Wednesday July 7.

Pickling Pickles with Patton

Pickles

Join this live demo with librarian Dan Patton on how to make simple refrigerator pickles. You'll need to have your own cucumbers (any variety) or other vegetables. We'll supply you with some basic seasoning, instructions, and a jar. Additional fresh ingredient suggestions:

  • Dill
  • Garlic
  • Green onions
  • Carrots
  • Cilantro
  • Thyme

Calming Crafts

Join us live on Zoom as we assemble beginner-friendly crafts, meant to soothe and calm. The kit is available by registration only and will include supplies to make a felt succulent wall hanging, stress-relieving slime, and some adult coloring sheets and pencils. You will need a hot glue gun, or other felt-friendly glue from home to assemble the succulents and wreath. We provide the rest! 

Registration begins July 15, 2021, and kits will be assembled for each registered patron and available for pickup. July 27- Aug 3, 2021. Zoom link for the program will be in the kits and emailed 24 hours before the program.

Pokemon Grab & Go: 5 Year Anniversary of Pokemon Go!

Registration is closed. You can pick up your Grab & Go starting July 6th. 

 

July 6th, 2021 marks the 5 year anniversary of Pokemon Go! To celebrate, we have created a special kit for trainers of all ages to enjoy. Register on June 24nd to reserve your kit while supplies last. Starting on July 6th, trainers can pick up their kit from the hold shelf. 

 

All ages, one kit per registration.

STEAM For Everyone: Paper Airplane Flight Contest

Can you make a paper airplane that stays in the air longer than anyone else’s? Put your aerospace engineering to the test and learn something new in the process!

Contest Details:

  • We will accept submissions from June 21 through July 21, 2021 by 9:00 PM.
  • To enter, send an email to cplflight@cantonpl.org. The email should include your name, age, and a link to a video showing the full flight of your paper airplane from take-off to landing. Tip: have someone else film it while you throw it outside.
  • The video should be no longer than 1 minute, and should be hosted on your own cloud storage, like Google Drive or Dropbox. Make sure that your sharing setting allows anyone with the link to view your video.
  • Each person may enter only once. You may enter as an individual OR as part of a family team, but not both. Team entries will be judged in the age category of the oldest team member.
  • By entering, you are granting Canton Public Library permission to show your video or link to it on in its website.
  • Divisions are based on age: 8 & under, 9-12, and 13-adult. 
  • Winners will be announced on Aug. 4, 2021 at 5:00pm on our website.

Pokemon Go Walking Club

Join us this summer for our Pokemon Go Walking Club! Meet up near the entrance of the library with other Pokemon Go players. Grab all the supplies you need for your Pokemon adventure! *while supplies lasts* Team up with another group and head to Heritage park to catch them all!

* A Pokemon Go account and mobile device/tablet is required to play Pokemon Go.*

  • Register 1 spot per group
  • If your group is larger than 4 please enter the total amount of people in your group in the notes field when registering.
