Roll up some fun with our Dungeons & Dragons Gaming Club! This monthly program is for ages 10 -17. Have fun acting out your character while building problem-solving and mathematic skills on Zoom. Before the program, players will pick up everything they need to play in a Grab & Go kit, usually 1 week before the program. On the day of the program, players will meet online on Zoom and use Roll20 to play their adventure! 

  • Registration is required and opens up on September 23rd for the October session. 
  • Players are currently at level 1. Please have your own character sheet or one will be provided for you in the Grab & Go kit. 
  • Zoom and a Roll20 account will be required to play. Instructions will be emailed on how to use Roll20 to registrants.

Family Storytime

We are very glad to continue offering Family Storytime to our patrons, but due to changing circumstances, please read the following information thoroughly so you can choose the best option for your family.

Family Storytime provides an opportunity for caregivers to actively engage with their children under age 5.

Together with a Youth Librarian, build early literacy skills in a welcoming environment through meaningful stories, songs, and play. Encourage a love of language and reading while practicing listening and cooperative tasks. We look forward to sharing this experience with you.

With consideration for the ongoing pandemic, and in response to patron feedback, please take special note of the following:

  • Registration is required for all storytimes.
  • One child from each family should register: put the total number of people in your family in the note field. 
  • Each registration is for the entire 6-week session. Space is limited, so please only register for one 6-week session.
  • To minimize disruptions, patrons who arrive more than five minutes late will not be able to enter the program.
  • In the event of a storytime cancellation due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, all registered participants will be emailed. If possible, a Zoom link may be included for a live virtual storytime. 

Please choose your session carefully when you register:

  • Monday morning and Tuesday evening storytimes will be indoors and masks will be REQUIRED for all patrons over the age of 2 (see sessions below). Presenting Librarians will be masked.
  • Wednesday and Thursday morning storytimes will be indoors and masks are RECOMMENDED for all patrons over the age of 2 (see sessions below). Fully vaccinated presenting librarians may choose not to wear a mask.
  • Thursday evening and Saturday morning storytimes will be outdoors and masks are not required (see sessions below).
  • All masking requirements are subject to change without notice.

STEAM Together

STEAM Together is a multigenerational program for kids ages 6-7 and a caregiver. During this hands-on experience, we will explore a science, technology, engineering, art, or math concept and then build, create, or experiment with some aspect of that concept. STEAM Together offers a fun and educational opportunity for one-on-one time with the child in your life.

Eclectic Book Group (Lunch and a Book): November

The Eclectic Book Group (Lunch and a Book) will again be meeting in person on Thursday, November 18 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in the Friends' Activity Room to discuss Relish: My Life in the Kitchen by Lucy Knisley.

For those who prefer to meet via Zoom, you may opt to attend this book discussion virtually – it is up to you! The registration process is the same for in person and virtual attendance. Registered participants will receive an email one day before the program with a Zoom link to join the discussion. 

For those that plan on meeting in person, simply come to the library. We will meet in the Friends' Activity Room.

Relish : my life in the kitchen by Lucy Knisley

Lucy Knisley loves food. The daughter of a chef and a gourmet, this talented young cartoonist comes by her obsession honestly. In her forthright, thoughtful, and funny memoir, Lucy traces key episodes in her life thus far, framed by what she was eating at the time and lessons learned about food, cooking, and life. Each chapter is bookended with an illustrated recipe--many of them treasured family dishes, and a few of them Lucy's original inventions.

Creativebug Spotlight Program: Book Safe

Creativebug* boasts more than 1,000 arts and crafts videos and tutorials. In September, the library is happy to highlight one specific class for a grab-and-go kit: Book Safe. With step-by-step instructions provided by video, you will be able to create the perfect gift or ideal hiding spot for a beloved item.

Each kit will contain:

  1. Cutting tool/X-acto
  2. Glue brush
  3. Glue
  4. Straightedge ruler
  5. Hardcover book 

You will need to supply at home:

  1. Sandpaper (optional)
  • Registration for this grab-and-go kit will take place beginning Thursday, August 26, while supplies last.
  • Individuals will be notified via email when kits are ready. Kit pick-up will take place from September 13-18.
