Dance Your Fanny Off: Grooving at Home

Enjoy a series of playlists that will make you want to grab a dance partner and get on your feet. Dancing is a great way for all ages to have fun together and build gross motor skills. Try one of our themed playlists to get yourself in the mood to get moving! Playing Spotify playlists does require a free Spotify account.

In need of a monstrously fun movement extravaganza? Take home our make-your-own Monster Mash Masquerade kit to inspire a spooky celebration in your own home. Get creative and craft your own mask for the occasion, then use our suggested playlist to get moving and boogie down. Dancing is a great way to have fun as a family. This program is intended for walkers up to age 5.

 

Kit contains: a selection of mask-making materials, some spooky swag, and suggestions for further fun.

If you are interested in picking up a kit you will need to:

  1. Register to reserve a kit between September 24 and October 21st.
  2. An email with instructions on how to pick up your kit will be sent out after registration ends.
  3. Schedule a day and time to pick up your kit. You will have 10 days to pick up your kit.
  4. Enjoy your kit at home!

Complete this square by hosting a home dance party or by choosing a dance activity of your choosing.

To host a home dance party you will need:

  • A Person or Persons interested in dancing (required)
  • Music (recommended)
  • Special Outfits (optional)
  • Disco Ball, Instruments, Scarves or other Accessories (optional)

  • Find dance music on Hoopla** or browse its Dance Your Way to Health video category.
  • Explore our Alexander Street American Music database,** which features an entire dance category. For other music and movement tastes, Alexander Street also has Jazz, and Classical Music options.
  • Check Out our Summer Jams playlists for more music ideas.

Misty Copeland is an accomplished ballet dancer and author, so she knows a lot about telling a good story in many different ways.
