Teens- Get A Free Book And Earn Your Love It Badge

Teens, we have copies of unpublished books by some of the top authors that you can preview.  All you have to do is stop by the east reference desk and pick-up a book.  Then you need to read it and post a review of the book as a comment to this blog letting us know if you LOVE IT or not.  The book is yours to keep so pass it on to a friend or read it over and over.  Don’t forget to claim your LOVE IT badge once you have completed the review.  Books are first come first served.

Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day

Celebrate the mid-season classic, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, by wearing your favorite jersey or team shirt to the library on July 10. You can claim your Game On badge, plus enter your name for a prize drawing. Look for the entry box at the Reception Desk.

The 83rd All Star game and surrounding festivities will be held at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Representing the Detroit Tigers will be the American League starting pitcher Justin Verlander, Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera. For more information on the All-Star Game, check out this book:

Chalk CPL

Great art can happen in any medium and to prove that, artists from D&M Art Studio will be here on July 9 at 6:00 PM to create chalk art versions of our Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out masterpieces. See what they create, and then cover the CPL sidewalks with your own chalk work of art in this all-ages activity. Artists will also be at Cherry Hill Village so be sure to stop out there and see the Inside|Out art and chalk recreations.

Clues

  1. A rare disorder characterized by inflammation of the muscles and the skin
  2. Its cause is unknown but it may result from either a viral infection or autoimmune reaction
  3. Occurs in all ages but most common among middle-age adults and school-age children
  4. Women are most frequently affected
  5. Actor Laurence Olivier suffered from this disease in 1974 and nearly died

Have you been out to a great dinner lately? Did you experience excelent service? Maybe you tried a new restaurant? We want to know.
