Sunny side up by Jennifer L Holm

A year without mom by Dasha Tolstikova

A Year Without Mom follows twelve-year-old Dasha through a year full of turmoil after her mother leaves for America. Just as she begins to find her own feet, she gets word that she is to join her mother in America -- a place that seems impossibly far from everything and everyone she loves. The visual style is NOT comparable to Telgemeier, but the story definitely is.

When Phoebe meets a unicorn named Marigold who grants her one wish, Phoebe wishes Marigold would become her best friend, and the two set off on adventures big and small. Follow the rest of Phoebe's adventures by searching for Dana Simpson.

Hilda's world is upset as she faces the prospect of leaving her snow-capped birthplace for the city when her mother, an architect, is offered a job. As Hilda tries to make a case for staying where they are, she must find a way to befriend the tiny elves who have recently been causing trouble for the household, and at the same time, find out about the giant she keeps seeing at night. Although this story takes on more fantastic elements, there's still plenty of strong characters and fun hijinks. And of course, there's more Hilda.

To dance : a memoir by Siena Cherson Siegel

The author describes how she first decided she wanted to be a ballerina at the age of six, and how that dream carried her from her home in Puerto Rico to dance class in Boston to performing with the New York City Ballet. A biography in a fun graphic style.

Baba Yaga's assistant by Marika McCoola

The fearsome witch of Russian folklore mentors a brave teen who draws on her grandmother's wisdom to pass a series of tests, outfox a territorial bear, and make dinner for her child-eating host. While the story departs from the realistic nature of Telgemeier's work, the illustration style might appeal to fans.

All summer long by Hope Larson

When her best friend, Austin, goes to soccer camp over the summer, thirteen-year-pld Bina finds an unlikely companion in Austin's older sister, Charlie.

So you've made your way through all the graphic novels on this list and you're still searching for a good read. If you still want a similar feel to Telgemeier's work, give some "regular" chapter books a look. You can also move along to suggestions from our teen collection.
