Hey kids, did you spend the day doing holiday shopping with the grown-ups? You probably need some down time after navigating through all those crowds at the stores! Come to the library and grab something (free!) to read and wind down. I'm feeling Christmas-y, so here are some of my favorite easy-to-read Christmas tales to get you in the spirit:

The Christmas penguin by Mary Packard; illustrated by Teri Weidner

I'm definitely in a fall mood. With the weather getting cooler, I keep thinking about fall stuff like apple cider, warm soup, and pumpkins. I'm ready to go buy some pumpkins right now, but it's still a little too early for that. In the meantime, I think I'll just read some books about them. Here are some of my favorite easy-reading titles all about pumpkins. Enjoy!
Buster and the giant pumpkin by Marc Brown
Oh my, pumpkin pie! by Charles Ghigna; illustrated by Kenneth Spengler
Pumpkin fever by written by Charnan Simon; illustrated by Jan Bryan-Hunt
Franklin's pumpkin by Sharon Jennings; illustrated by Robert Penman, Sasha McIntyre, Jelena Sisic, Shelley Southern

With so many ponds nearby, I've been noticing a lot of ducks waddling around outside the library. Ducks are such nice birds — sometimes I like to feed them bread! I like reading about ducks, too. What about you? The library has lots of great books in our Readers section all about ducks! Try:
Ducks in muck by Lori Haskins ; illustrated by Valeria Petrone
Lucky duck by written by Ellen Weiss ; illustrated by Brian Lies
Goose and Duck by Jean Craighead George ; illustrated by Priscilla Lamont
Duck & company by Kathy Caple
And maybe next time you come to the library, you'll see some ducks outside on the grass, too!

I don't know about you, but with all the snow that fell today, it sure doesn't feel like spring to me. Would you rather be thinking about warm weather and playing outside? If so, Sunny Days and Starry Nights will help. Flip through this book and find lots of ideas for fun stuff you can do outside. Plan some outdoor activites for yourself, and before you know it, it will actually be nice enough outside to do them!
